Founded in 2020, Coalbrook is a the newest brand from luxury bathroom distributor Davroc, and as of late, it boasts a fitting showroom in London‘s Clerkenwell neighbourhood. Situated in a monumental former warehouse built in the early 1990s, it features a themed and experience-led showroom and co-working space created by local architecture practice Holloway Li. Interestingly, the aesthetic takes ample cues from the Industrial Revolution, resulting in a wide array of industrial references and materials that signal a bold fusion of history, craftsmanship and modernity. The ground floor sees a series of industrial scenographies with chimneys and ghostly casts of Victorian bathroom wall panels in piercing orange and amber resin, all presenting Coalbrook‘s alluring products. A solid stone staircase with rough quarried sides, created in collaboration with a stonemason near Stamford, leads to the basement section which, in star contrast, sees a dark and somewhat mysterious setting inspired by a subterranean engine room and featuring two large industrial boilers, each used as a product showcase, and wall panels moulded from cast iron. Next to the showroom, the premises feature co-working spaces, a meeting room, and a bar.
