Nestled in the street grid of Palermo SoHo, a buzzing pocket of Buenos Aires known for its independent boutiques, restaurants and night haunts, the Kostüme store has been a haven for forward-fashion aficionados since it opened its doors late 2020. Founded almost two decades earlier by designer duo Camila Milessi and Emiliano Blanco, the brand’s collections are steeped in contemporary cultural references. As if adhering to fashion’s cycles, the boutique has reinvented itself, featuring a new guise created by local architect and visual artist Agustina Perelló. Aiming to reflect Kostüme‘s continuously evolving silhouettes, the chosen aesthetic is rooted in the deconstruction of the preexisting, and quite literally so. The retail space has been fully stripped and sectioned by geometric planes that advance through space. The new superimposed interventions, predominantly crafted from bristled and polished steel, form an entirely new backdrop.

The new decor redefines the spatial experience, as it blends solid and ethereal, opaque and reflective, preexisting and newly introduced. Interestingly, the new elements do not touch the bare walls, instead, extending from floor to ceiling in vertical accents that emphasise height and generate a modular system. Furnishings are few and simple, comprising an elongated display and a matching sales counter, while sleek clothing racks line the walls. The fitting room is concepted as an immersive capsule, and as such, comes with a popping yellow colour, captured by forty metres of ruched nylon which whimsically signals Kostüme’s signature pleating. Extrapolating the eclectic design approach, the store façade has retained Its history of moldings, graffiti, and last bit not least, wear and tear. The renewed Kostüme store carries the brand’s full apparel collection. © superfuture
