French publisher Assouline continues its global retail expansion, and one of its newest standalone boutiques has recently opened in Mexico City. Situated at Artz Pedregal, arguably the sprawling Mexican capital’s leading upscale shopping centre, it occupies a compact unit on the first floor. The interior design, created by the publisher’s in-house design team at home base New York City, features a floor-to-ceiling glass façade which instantly reveals Assouline‘s homey yet sophisticated signature design. Walls are dipped in a warm red hue and paired with black and white tile flooring. The side walls feature shelving laden with books, while additional publications are showcased in a large bookcase that lines the back wall. Furnishings are few, comprising merely a large bookstand in the window, two comfy design chairs and a small side table, and two monolithic book displays. The new Assouline store carries a selection from each of its book collections, as well as its expanding selection of travel-inspired candles that pair with the iconic Travel Series titles to recreate the scents of some of the planet’s most well-known destinations. © superfuture
