Coffee parlours hardly come more spectacular than this. We’re talking Seven Island Coffee, an aptly named café located on Busan‘s Gadeok Island,  on the premises of one of seven connected buildings, each one arranged on a different axis facing each one of the surrounding seven islands. The Seven Island Coffee café measures no less than 1,467 sqm. (15,791 sq.ft.) spread across three floors with scenic views, and features an interior design created by Seoul-based architecture practice mttb. Captured by a palette of understated materials, including bead-blasted stainless steel, wood veneer, timber, tiles and special paint, each floor features a distinctive aesthetic which underpins the aim to provide tranquil, if not, meditative spaces where to wind down and take in the stunning views.

The interior design of Seven Island Coffee café was additionally inspired by a one of the seven islands in the bay. The dark-coloured ground floor oozes a dramatic kind of luxury, mimicking the part of the island that lies below the water’s surface by intentionally using a three-dimensional effect which spawns from the contrast between light and shadow, exterior and interior. In contrast, the second floor is light-coloured, reflecting an image of the island floating in the sea, using a minimalist visual language. The menu at Seven Island Coffee café lists classic coffee concoctions, both hot and cold, matcha tea, regular teas, and smoothies, in addition to pastries and sandwiches. © superfuture
