Taking its retail presence at home base Paris to a new level, luxury home fragrance brand Diptyque has recently  inaugurated Maison Diptyque Paris, its largest flagship store ever. But then again, it’s more than just a retail space, and for a good reason. Right above the 400 sqm. (4,306 sq.ft.), two-level space, the brand’s founders, painter Desmond Knox-Leet, designer Yves Coueslant and architect Christiane Gautrot actually lived over the flagship store. As such, the interior design intentionally mimics an apartment with a living room, dining room, library and bathroom. Additionally, a gallery with documents and archive photos showcases the story of Diptyque. There are many works of art, including paintings by Knox-Leet. Needless to say, the design, created by the brand’s in-house design team, features an abundance of artistic highlights.

There’s as a striking suspended mirror in glazed terracotta by ceramics studio Jean Roger, a stained-glass window by Studio Vitrail Bianconi, and a dedicated room presents Diptyque’s full range of home fragrances. Other noteworthy store sections include Le Salon des Curiosités which features the brand’s interiors collection and Le Jardin Imaginaire. Here, outdoor product range is shown, including plant pots, gilded brass lanterns, vases and candleholders. The apartment-inspired premises of Maison Diptyque Paris lend it a cultural aura that’s further boosted by the Espace Éphémère, a cultural space created with Colette‘s former creative director Sarah Andelman. Many a Diptyque shopper is familiar with its elaborate personalisation service, and obviously, it’s available here as well. © superfuture
