It has been four years since VEJA first opened up shop in New York City‘s buzzing Soho shopping district, and now, an additional retail space has just opened its doors across the East River. Situated in the buzzing Williamsburg shopping district, the store occupies a 2,300 sq.ft. (214 sqm.) ground floor space of a low-rise structure built in 1960. The store, created by VEJA‘s in-house design team in collaboration with local design and architecture practice Office JDY, features a paired-back aesthetic that’s similar to all its other retail spaces across the planet. A section of the building’s original brick walls are exposed, while the remainder is dipped in immaculate white plaster and is paired in tiered displays of crafted from the same material. The setting also features concrete flooring and furnishings and fixtures in untreated timber, notably the sales counter and workspace.

Elongated timber benches dot the premises, not only tie in with the latter element, but also add more warmth to the intentional austerity. Eager to introduce its forward in-house services, which have been offered in some of its European stores, the VEJA retail space comes with a cobbler repair unit which repairs all sneakers and shoes from any brand under the Clean, Repair, Collect moniker. Mind you, it’s not only committed to lengthening the life-cycle of footwear, but also garments. The aim is to offer customers the option to clean and repair their shoes and sneakers, extending their lifespan, or to collect them for recycling if they can’t be repaired. The new VEJA store carries the brand’s full range of men’s, women’s and kids sneakers and accessories. © superfuture.com
