At an accelerated pace, Amsterdam‘s golden mile of luxury shopping has welcomed storied houses from fashion’s upper echelon in the past decade, and the latest to plant its flag on this surprisingly unassuming thoroughfare is CELINE. The Paris-based fashion house, led by cult creative director Hedi Slimane, has secured a 230 sqm. (2,476 sq.ft.) space spread across the ground floor and basement of a late 19th-century residential brick building. The interior design, created by Slimane and CELINE‘s in-house design team, features the brand’s latest design codes. Despite the fairly modest dimensions of the retail space, the chosen aesthetic unfolds with unadulterated contemporary grandeur, framing the store settings with black and white marble flooring and white marble-clad walls.

A curated selection of Brutalist-inspired furniture pieces are paired with sleek glass and steel cabinet and matching suspended clothing racks. The stairwell leading to the store’s basement is demarcated by floor-to-ceiling glass louvers and brass-framed mirror slats. Similar to most other CELINE retail spaces, the shopping experience is further elevated by two striking cherry-picked artworks which seamlessly match with the selected furnishings—a wall-mounted styrofoam sculpture by Warsaw-based artist Cezary Poniatowski (1987) and a monolithic ceramic piece by David Zink Yi (1973), a Peruvian artist based in Berlin. The new CELINE boutique carries women’s apparel, accessories, bags, small leather goods, shoes, and jewellery pieces, in addition to the CELINE Haute Parfumerie collection. © superfuture.com
