There’s no denying Dubai has become a global shopping destination, and as such, fashion’s upper echelon is well-represented with an ever-growing number flagship stores, boutiques and shop-in-shops. The latest notable arrival in the booming emirate is Zimmermann. The Sydney-based fashion house has opened up shop at Mall of the Emirates, arguably the luxury hub in the Middle East. Situated on the second floor where it rubs shoulders with the boutiques of Versace, Givenchy, Valentino and Missoni, to name but a few, the retail space features an interior design in collaboration with Australian interior design practice and longtime collaborator studio mcqualter. Two large-sized windows, embellished by patterned timber framing, reference the brand’s store in Barcelona which opened last year. The entrance doorway is adorned with vintage Edwardian solid brass handles and signal the opulent decor and homey vibe that awaits inside.
The floor is clad in custom Italian Palladiana tiles, guiding shoppers along Zimmermann‘s coveted collections to an alluring lounge where they can sit back in between shopping sprees and ponder over their next trophy purchase. Here, darker walls, a domed ceiling, and green terrazzo floors create an inviting atmosphere. The sense of sophistication is heightened by carefully curated striking artworks and vintage Ettore Sottsass chandeliers. Mind you, the lounge area playfully transitions into the fitting rooms, where shoppers can also indulge in private consultations. This area is has been designed with timeless elegance in mind and by way of 18th-century Florentine apothecary display cabinets and reupholstered vintage Cassina leather armchairs. The selected artworks by include pieces by acclaimed artists such as David Hockney and Gaetano Pesce, The new Zimmermann store carries the brand’s full range of women’s ready-to-wear, resort and swimwear, accessories, shoes, and jewellery pieces. © superfuture.com
