Shopping in swanky Beverly Hills just got a little more fun, at least, for discerning females. We’re talking Saks Fifth Avenue‘s glamorous new outpost in Los Angeles which occupies the former palatial grounds of the now defunct Barneys New York on Wiltshire Boulevard. The location, just around the corner from iconic shopping artery Rodeo Drive, is an Italianate-style building which was initially designed for the latter department store by architects Peter Marino and Jeffrey Hutchison. Following a dramatic three-year redevelopment and redesign, executed by Saks Fifth Avenue‘s in-house planning and design teams in collaboration with the retail architects and advisors at Arcadis, the six-storey, 130,000 sq.ft. (12,077 sqm.) premises see a wide range of alluring settings which aim to dazzle the most discerning of female shoppers.

The interior design highlights include vendor-designed shops throughout the store which boost a multi-faceted shopping experience while traversing the store. Artful fixtures such as chandeliers double as unexpected art pieces, adding a fun and visually stimulating element while metallic accents and playful pops of colour, including richly hued rugs, statement furniture pieces and vibrant wall coverings spice up specific store sections. The store’s ultimate eye-catcher has to be the imposing Regency-style marble staircase, which is paired with a central skylight, and pearlescent white atrium spaces and reflective columns on each floor. Last but not least, the top floor, home to the Fifth Avenue Club, has been transformed into an experiential destination for top-notch personal shopping and styling.

Given the location of Saks Fifth Avenue‘s new store, luxury merchandise is key here. The various women’s offerings are tightly curated, and there’s a strong  focus on designer ready-to-wear, shoes and jewellery. The main floor boasts an expansive, 5,000 sq.ft. (465 sqm.) shoe experience, alongside a seemingly endless assortment of handbags and leather goods. The second floor is the ultimate destination for fine and high jewellery in Beverly Hills, with limited edition and one-of-a-kind pieces from highly exclusive brands such as Chopard, Graff, Lorraine Schwartz, Repossi and Vhernier, and new additions to the retailer’s realm, including Anita Ko and FoundRae. The third and fourth floors feature designer collections from leading luxury brands, including Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta, Celine, Dolce & Gabbana, Dries Van Noten, Fendi, LOEWEThom Browne, and Valentino. © superfuture
