Only founded in 2018 by Spanish influencer and stylist Blanca Miró Scrimieri and entrepreneur Rafa Blanc Cumellas, Vasquiat‘s members-only shopping concept is as ingenious as it is disruptive, offering its fast-growing female following a wide range of next season’s discounted pre-order items. Taking the company’s operations to the next level, the founders have opened a brick and mortar space a few blocks away from its headquarters in Barcelona‘s leafy Eixample district. Called Vasquiat Room, it’s concepted as a three-dimensional extension of its online market place, providing customers the opportunity to explore emerging designers, and additionally, try on the trophy of choice in the fitting room. The store occupies a ground floor unit of a late 19th-century building, featuring an interior design that’s a collaborative effort of local architecture practice GCA Architects, marketing consultancy firm This is Odd and designer Cristian Herrera Dalmau.
Living up to its name, it’s a versatile and intimate space, designed to form a fitting backdrop for the continuously changing array of offerings. A large floor-to-ceiling front window and glass door allow in floods of daylight, allowing passers-by ample view of what’s in stock. Whitewashed walls are paired with fluffy orange carpeting by Cotlin, but in stark contrast, a large art of the boutique sees an exposed ceiling featuring traditional vaulted brickwork. The walls of Vasquiat Room are lined with suspended shelving, clothing racks and hat racks, while additional furnishings include a display table, display cubes and a sales counter opposite the entrance. Adding to the setting’s textural variety are the entrance wall panels and velvet-clad walls of the fitting room in the back. Vasquiat stocks a wide range of coveted women’s fashion brand’s and lifestyle products from Spain and abroad, including Hereu, PSC, augusta, Ganni, The Label Edition, and Walter de Silva.

Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
