There are flower shops, and then, there are flower shops. The sleek, newly opened Cheong A Sam falls in the more elevated latter category. The high-end flower shop is sought-after by both discerning private and corporate clients in search of distinctive flower arrangements. As of late, the Seoul-based company has expanded yet again, opening a branch in the leafy satellite city of Seongnam, just a 15-minute car drive south of the capital. Occupying a 58 sqm. (624 sq.ft.) unit on the premises of the recently inaugurated DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, the store features an interior design by RVMN, a design studio based in the Seoul. Encases in floor-to-ceiling glass, the retail space is dominated by two undulating volumes in a fresh light blue, serving respectively as a sales counter and display, and a combined display and desk with a seemingly levitating top, and to keep the setting as uncluttered as possible, it’s paired with transparent chairs. Sizeable circular shapes, a nod to flower petals in full bloom, dangle from the ceiling.  Sleek vertical rods reach down to the two volumes and even the floor, lightly signalling to shoppers the sense of having entered an airy pavilion. Combined with the whitewashed walls, the backdrop is subtle, almost neutral, but certainly fitting to make Cheong A Sam‘s colourful floral arrangements effortlessly pop.
