Following an exhibition at Circle Culture gallery in Berlin, Mexican artist Beatriz Morales (1981) has arrived in Hamburg with a series of news works. The showcase of the self-taught, multidisciplinary artist will be held at Barlach Halle K, a spacious venue un the heart of the city. Entitled Where the Wild Things Grow, the show consists of a site-specific and large-scale fiber art installation, a sound-art element created in collaboration with British film composer Sion Trefor, and last but not least, a series of new works on canvas from the series Sounds I’ll Never Hear which features Morales’ signature visual world of mixed-technique painting with textile components. Morales lives and works in Berlin and Hidalgo, a state near the Mexico City, and is known for her use of Agave plant fibres, traditional materials from ancient Maya culture. The Mexican artist’s show opens Thu – Oct 6 (7pm). Please send your RSVP to [email protected] to attend the opening party.
