Womenswear brand Bibilee Studio was founded in 2018, and has since become known for its fashion-forward, artsy style and modern silhouettes, and boasts various leading stockists across China. With the very recent inauguration of its first flagship store, the company has stepped up its operations. Unsurprisingly, the retail space is situated in Shenzhen, and affluent boomtown whose dwellers have become known for their voracious appetite for all good things in life. Occupying a lofty unit on the ground floor of Baoneng AllCity, a large shopping centre in the city’s Nanshan district, the retail space measures approx. 150 sqm. (1,615 sq.ft.) and features an interior design by architecture practice Studio Yuda. The interior design is loosely inspired by In The Park, a film released in 1915 and starring Charlie Chaplin, resembling a sculpture park.
The premises are dotted with Tetris-like forms in electric blue which, as an abstract expressions of nature, and create a cinematic, sci-fi setting. A backdrop of pristine white walls and black tile flooring heightens the visual drama. Two opposite volumes, respectively housing a cashier’s office and two changing rooms – both entirely clad with shiny metal on the inside – plus storage space, create a corridor between the entrance and store section facing the outdoors and a second entrance and section facing a corridor within the shopping centre. Furnishings and fixtures, apart from the sculptures which serve both as displays and seating, are sparse and include sleek clothing racks and shelving, in addition to rows of suspended tubular lights. Bibilee Studio‘s new retail space stocks the brand’s women’s apparel, accessories and shoes.
