With the recent opening of The Londoner, Leicester Square, known as a somewhat garish entertainment area, instantly gained a sophisticated edge. The five-star property, part of the family-owned British hospitality group Edwardian Hotels, features 350 guestrooms and suites across sixteen floors. The interior design, a collaboration between acclaimed Canadian architecture practice Yabu Pushelberg, James Robertson Art Consultants and the hotel company’s product design manager Krishma Singh, aims to reflect the British capital’s sophistication, and does so with winks and nods at every turn to British humour. The Londoner features no less than 350 guest rooms and suites, six restaurants, a members club-style private area, various meeting and event spaces, a cinema and an entire floor dedicated to wellness.

Both the guestrooms and public areas see an expertly curated roster of art pieces, breathing life and character into the hotel. The art collection is a mixture of price points, mediums and genres, including classic and contemporary pieces and those from emerging artists. As a new beacon of luxury hospitality in the British capital, The Londoner goes the extra yard to accommodate – yes, pun intended – even the most jaded of travellers, and its trump card is the lavish, 200 sqm. (2,153 sq.ft.) Tower Penthouse Suite. Comprising three beautifully designed spaces, the suite boasts top-notch features, such as a marble bar, a monolithic wooden staircase with a marble powder room, and a wall-to-wall windowed bathroom with a stunning Apaiser bathtub. As said, the premises are awash with alluring facilities which are a destination in their own right, especially hotel’s eateries. Radiating from the lobby is The Stage, an all-day restaurant featuring food and beverage menus centred around the luxury, glamour and sophistication of its headliner, Champagne.

Mind you, there are 35 bottles to choose from, in addition to a selection of Champagne cocktails. Also on the ground floor, The Londoner‘s signature restaurant Whitcomb’s can be found, also an all-day culinary escape, but offering Mediterranean-inspired fare instead. Do we hear you say drinks? Located right behind the hotel, on the corner of St Martin’s Street and Orange Street, sits satellite drinking spot Joshua’s Tavern, specialising in terroir-led gintonicas and featuring over 50 regionally sourced gins. Located atop The Londoner with sweeping city views is 8 at The Londoner, a sleek and opulent rooftop izakaya lounge which pairs top modern Japanese cuisine with innovative mixology. Additionally, The Residence, the hotel’s very own 24-hour club for guests, is hidden from the happenings of the wider hotel and features an exclusive collection of discrete spaces for relaxing, working, and last but not least, intimate dining.

The venue’s Y Bar and The Drawing Room offer an à la carte menu and a curated reserve wine list, complemented by signature house cocktails. Guests will also be able to experience The Whisky Room with its intimate 14-cover parlour brimming with rare, renowned and also exciting new concoctions. Allowing guests to balance all that good life, is The Retreat, a place where to disconnect and rewind through fitness, nutrition, nourishing therapies and other innovative wellness practices. The venue gives hotel guests and members a curated edit of tools so that they can look and feel their best: a private training gym, fitness classrooms for innovative weekly programming, 25m pool, barber, blow dry bar, nail bar and other modalities to offer a holistic approach to wellbeing. Nestled within The Retreat is Refuel, a sanctuary offering a superfood and drinks programme designed to refresh, recharge and rejuvenate.
