Following the closure of its Fifth Avenue flagship store two years ago, Versace returns to New York City, opening a brand new boutique in Soho. The Italian fashion house secured a 285 sqm. (3,070 sq.ft.) unit on the ground floor of a mid-rise structure built in 1879, rubbing shoulders with boutiques of several peers in the luxury segment, such as Linda Farrow, Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney, Dior and Fendi. The interior design, created by arechitect Gwenaël Nicolas of Tokyo-based practice Curiosity and first revealed at the revamped Versace flagship store in Paris, presents a lavish signature aesthetic with Greca-patterned marble floorinng and sculpted Medusas. The space is LEED Gold-certified and has been created with the highest sustainability standards in mind, from the choice of materials used to the flexibility and management of the store. The new Versace boutique carries the full men’s and women’s range, from apparel, accessories and shoes, to jewellery, watches, eyewear and also fragrances.

Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
