It was only in May of last year that the revamp of the Valextra flagship store in Milan by British architect John Pawson was revealed, turning it into a minimalist gallery-like space captured in stone. And now, the aesthetic of the premises has been subtly tweaked with a series of magnificent light fixtures. London-based designer Michael Anastassiades was commissioned to create a light fixture which resulted in the sleek Flos lamp which is a nod to the ingenuity and elegance of ancient Greek architecture. The design features vertical LED rods joined around a central base to form a freestanding lamp that recalls the geometric parity of platonic forms and the stately fluted columns of the Parthenon. The freestanding pillars come with either ceiling hard-wired or plug-in options and presents an architectural lighting solution with enduring and monumental style. A total of seven Flos lamps can be found on the Valextra flagship store premises, and seamlessly blend into Pawson’s understated setting.

Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
