In tandem with today’s grand opening of MUJI Hotel Ginza, the revered Japanese ‘no brand’ retail company launches its global flagship store situated on the lower levels of the very same building in Tokyo‘s Ginza neighbourhood. The store location, on Namiki Dori, is smack in the middle of the upscale shopping district, and offers the MUJI fanbase an immersive shopping experience by way of more offerings and services in appealing settings. It follows up the now closed MUJI Yurakucho flagship which opened in 2001 as the company’s global retail showcase. So, given the new MUJI Ginza store’s top position in the retail hierarchy, prominent stature, the company obviously has pulled out all the stops. The spacious basement section is home to MUJI Diner, an informal the restaurant with a focus on freshly prepared simple food.

There’s a salad bar, but the menu also lists fish, meat or wild game dishes. Upon entering the store, on the ground floor, shoppers will find a full-fledged bakery serving a wide range of freshly baked concoctions. Interestingly, during morning hours, you can make reservations through the MUJI website and MUJI passport app to order coffee or coffee and bread sets to avoid waiting queues. There’s also food section stocked with seasonal vegetables and fruits grown either organically or through reduced pesticide use, and sourced primarily from a number of farms across the Kanto region and elsewhere in Japan.

One floor up, men’s and women’s apparel, shoes and bags can be found, in addition to a MUJI Labo section. The third floor is home to a variety of merchandise, ranging from the elaborate health and beauty products and underwear, to stationery, officer supplies and travel goods in the MUJI to Go travel department. Presented on the fourth floor are apparel collections for kids, paired with kitchen utensils, table supplies, a Found MUJI section with curated daily goods from across the globe, MUJI Books, and an interactive Open MUJI space where to pick up on lifestyle innovations. The final floor is dedicated to MUJI‘s popular furniture and lighting range, bedroom items, and last but not least, MUJI Support, a consultation service for all things related to home interior design.
