As a truly wayfaring boutique, SND has been providing a discerning Chongqing demographic with forward fashion labels from across the planet. Founders Di Wu, Yina Hu amd Stephanie Wu have maintained a holistic approach to business, and are keen to provide a matching setting for their merchandise. Following two design-led retail spaces in this boomtown, the trio have launched their most ambitious boutique to date at Shin Kong Place, the city’s leading luxury mall. The SND store occupies an elongated 288 sqm. (3,100 sq.ft.) ground floor unit, and features a striking interior design by Shenzhen-based architecture practice Various Associates. Interestingly, the design concept explores the relation between body and space, and this is captured by two contrasting and understated spaces.
An outer area comprises of glass-encased galleries where apparel pieces are presented on an elevated platform. An expansive window on one side allows in daylight that permeates the section of the SND store that features a structure with sloped ends on either side. Cut-outs allow both peeks inside and provide access to an inner sanctum of sorts, captured by lava stone and terrazzo flooring, where more apparel collections, accessories, jewellery pieces and faux fur-covered fitting rooms can be found. The corridor which runs parallel right behind the structure is used for a variety of in-store events. SND carries a curated selection of both Chinese and international fashion brands, including Shushu/Tong, Lemaire, Samuel Gui Yang, Ambush, Marques Almeida and Facetasm.
