It’s just off Passeig de Gràcia, a prestigious thoroughfare in the heart of Barcelona, where MYKITA has made its retail debut in Spain with a standalone boutique. Occupying a the ground floor unit of a late 19th-century building. Elongated and lofty, the interior design by the cult eyewear brand’s in-house design team offer a sharp contrast with the building’s ornate neoclassical façade. After being fully stripped, all that remains of the original architecture are the traditional Catalan vaulted ceiling and sections of exposed brick walls. MYKITA‘s signature furnishing, an elongated shelving wall dipped in a pristine white hue, lines one side of the premises, extending all the way to the back where it shows an elegant curve. The setting is complemented by grey terrazzo flooring and custom furnishings crafted from light oak wood. Separated from the retail space by floor-to-ceiling tinted glass is the store’s optical laboratory. A staircase, situated in the middle of the retail space, leads to an additional upstairs which cannot be accessed. The new MYKITA store carries the brand’s full range if optical frames and sunglasses, in addition to its collab collections.
