Continuing to brazenly fuse an abundance of elements, MSGM‘s A/W 2019 Men’s Collection presented at Milan Fashion Week not only ticks all the boxes of the savvy millennial, but also appeals to anyone older with a rebellious streak. Full of energy, colourful, and infused with a solid dose of street cred, the range of looks accentuate elements borrowed from motor racing culture, tailored silhouettes and Italian post-punk. All-over flame prints are like an engine fired up, knits read More Speed, and Turbo is prominently printed on T-shirts and caps. As said, colour is key, and MSGM‘s creative director Massimo Giorgetti applied Leopard print fleeces, but these are worn over zebra print nylon-zip ups, both in blue and black. Kways are saturated in 90s vivid shades, and a red eco-leather blouson is embroidered with the iconic Madonnina statue that adorns the majestic Duomo in Milan. Meanwhile, black & white scenes from popular 1980s Japanese football cartoon Holly & Benji are woven as jacquards for coats. Tailoring is done the quirky MSGM way, featuring double-breasted wool blazers cut boxy on the body, elegant double-breasted wool coats worn under the exaggerated shape of an eco-leather padded jacket, and the whole look is in a subtle beige hue. Versatile body bags can be worn in so many different ways, and leather shoes and square-toed boots are joined by the classic Fila Silva trainer that’s been given an MSGM update. Shown here are eleven looks from MSGM‘s A/W 2019 Men’s Collection that we particularly like. Show location: Coworking Space Milan, Via Calabiana 6 (Porta Romana).
