As a spin-off brand of Comme des Garçons, CDG has had a flying earlier this year. And now, following the launch of a dedicated CDG boutique in Tokyo, an event we talked about in a previous post, things are heating up as more dedicated retail spaces bow, and not just somewhere, but on the premises of each of the Dover Street Market flagship stores in London, New York City, Beijing, Singapore, the newest outpost in Los Angeles, as well as the Comme des Garçons flagship stores in Hong Kong and Seoul. Similar to the retail space in the Japanese capital, each of the new settings is based on the concept of an opened box, and one that has the CDG logo written all over. Compact in size, furnishings are obviously few, comprising of only a sales desk and sculptural shelving units. On the shelves are a wide and rotating range of items, including various collab pieces with street brands. For all CDG shop-in-shop locations, click here. If you live elsewhere, no worries. The CDG online store will open Thu – Nov 1, and is likely to ship to your neck of the woods as well.
Publishers Note
Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
