Co-founded in 2013 by Stockholm-based couple and entrepreneurs Gustav Lidén and Hanna Kwiatowska Tisner, shoe brand Flattered – indeed, what’s in a name? – initially carved a niche for itself with expertly made ballerinas. But as the company grew, additional styles were added, and nowadays, customers can indulge in matching bags as well. The Flattered product range is designed in the Swedish capital, but is crafted in small, family-run factories in Portugal, Spain and Italy. As of late, Flattered has taken its operations to a new level by opening its first retail space at home base Stockholm. Situated in the city’s fashionable Norrmalm district, the store occupies a 60 sqm. (646 sq.ft.) unit on the ground floor of a residential structure built in 1853.

The store interior, designed by local design practice Studio Escapist, sees a backdrop of handmade Italian terracotta flooring, which lend the premises a distinctive artisanal touch, whitewashed walls, and black accents captured by the façade window frame and door, and specific furnishings. An elongated display, crafted from matching terracotta tiles, takes centre stage, and is flanked on two sides by tiered maple shelving. Raw-cut curtains frame the store’s back section while adding an unexpected homey touch. Here, additional bags are showcased on wall-mounted metal rails. The new Flattered flagship store carries the brand’s full range of women’s shoes, bags and accessories. © superfuture
