FENDI‘s much publicised recent store opening in Hong Kong arguably is a sign of the fact that the city is slowly regaining its lustre for shopping aficionados. The iconic Rome-based fashion house already manages two standalone boutiques at Harbour City shopping centre, one of Hong Kong‘s luxury hubs, but added a third, street-level retail space. The store façade, with its protruding upper part, is crafted from travertine marble and adorned with eight LED arches which boldly reference Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, FENDI‘s splendorous headquarters on the outskirts of the Italian capital. The 288 sqm. (3,100 sq.ft.) retail space has been designed by the brand’s in-house design team and features an aesthetic which pairs FENDI‘s design codes with modern and luxurious minimalism. Upon entering the store, shoppers find themselves in a space with travertine marble, wood, exclusive Verde Arga onyx, and luxurious carpeting. The materials highlight FENDI‘s codes and tradition of dualism, with the intertwined FF logo appearing throughout.
Travertine marble is used for the floors, columns and shelves, while the walls combine smooth and undulating textures reminiscent of ancient Roman ruins. Handcrafted textured amber glass further boost the sense of luxury, while three-dimensional plasterwork decorates the alcoves, reflecting FENDI codes and incorporating Pequin stripes, another iconic element, the FF logo and three-dimensional diamond patterns. A curated range of designer furniture dots the space, including a walnut Nin table by Cristoph Delcourt, Arda Yeniay‘s Eternity console in gold Salem marble and sofas and elegant FENDI Casa armchairs. Anticipating the return of high-profile power shoppers, a V.I.P. salon can be found at the back of the store, furnished with Golden Sky marble and FENDI Casa chairs, fur tablets by its fur atelier and floor lamps designed by Garnier & Linker.
