A sense of style, albeit a quirky one, and an adventurous mindset are characteristics of Ramdane Touhami. Oh, and an ardent love for mountains. The man who co-founded high-end beauty brand Officine Universelle Buly with his wife Victoire de Taillac-Touhami has now offloaded the company in a much-publicised deal with luxury behemoth LVMH and is now making waves elsewhere, in the Swiss Alps, to be precise. It’s in the mountain village of Mürren, approx. 55 kilometres (34 miles) south of Bern, and near the snowcapped peaks of the Jungfrau, Eiger and Mönch, where Touhami has put his stamp on an existing hotel. The 19-room property, whose name is a nod to the aformentioned mountains (Drei Berge means ‘three mountains’) first opened its doors in 1907, but given the new owner’s worldly, eclectic taste, it has been given a meticulous, colour-infused makeover that’s straight out of a Wes Anderson movie.

Designed by Touhami and his design team at Art Recherche Industrie, a Paris-based design practice, Drei Berge Hotel has become an ideal getaway where urbanites can indulge in outdoor life, but without having to compromise their discerning design sensibilities. Each setting has been designed with an eye for detail, blending carefully sourced vintage furniture with the original designs. Mind you, the design even extends to the branding of Drei Berge Hotel and all related graphic design. Each of the rooms has a unique design and is also furnished  witha mix of original furniture and vintage pieces from a string of leading designers. The beds have the highest quality bed linen in the world, embroidered with the hotel monogram, and the bathroom if filled with amenities created with the scent of the hotel that’s also imagined by Touhami.

Feeling a little peckish after your mountain hike? The aptly named Jungfrau restaurant, helmed by seasoned Japanese chef Ryutaro Kobayashi, offers his take on traditional mountain dishes using fresh, seasonal produce, all paired with a tightly curated selection of wines. The cozy lobby bar serves wines, cocktails and other beverages, allowing pre of after dinner drinks and banter until the wee little hours. And that’s not all, folks. Right outside the Drei Berge Hotel, guests and passers-by can indulge in the offerings of its very own coffee shop. A special cabin, a few steps away, also offers takeaway food, and hot drinks for hikers to take on their trail of the day. Smitten by the design? Well, a wide range of the alluring items that Touhami and his design team have created for the hotel can be purchased at the hotel shop. © superfuture
