Initially established in 1946 as a barber shop, uka has since grown into a full-fledged upscale beauty salon with 15 salons and stores at locations in some of Tokyo‘s most fashionable areas and across Japan. The brand’s latest expansion is a full-fledged salon in the Roppongi neighbourhood of the Japanese capital. Situated right on the premises of Parkside Six, a residential complex next to the greens of the so-called Midtown Garden of Tokyo Midtown shopping centre, the salon sees a understated design created in-house, featuring a light an airy space flooded in daylight, and framed by pristine white walls, timber flooring and an exposed ceiling. Four super comfy treatment stations line the wall, situated directly opposite a large, elongated shelving and cabinets unit. Additionally, there’s a private room for full body treatments. The new uka salon offers a menu of care-centred treatments exclusive to this branch, including hand care, nail colour, eyelashes, dry head spa, and full body treatments, and all come with complimentary tea and sweets. Treatments are performed using the brand’s signature products such as body oil, nail oil, body and foot balm, moisturising gel, and scalp brush. Highlights include the U Customised Body & Facial 120 treatment, the hybrid Winback Body 90 treatment which incorporates radio waves into an esthetician’s hand treatment, and the Kaisui Refle Technology 60 which treats the soles of the feet and the entire area below the knees where peripheral nerves are concentrated.
