For the love of Americana—Hot on the heels of the F.I.L. Ginza store opening in Tokyo, founder Hiroki Nakamura has shifted his focus to his beloved U.S. of A. to launch his brand’s newest retail space. True, Carmel is a rather unlikely place to set up shop, especially one by visvim, but Nakamura instantly fell under its spell when he first visited this coastal town in California. Well, that was reason enough. Aptly dubbed WMV visvim Carmel, the store occupies a little brick house which originally housed a grocery store, featuring 290 sqm. (3,122 sq.ft.) of retail space spread across two rooms. The interior design, created by Nakamura and his in-house design team, sees pristine white walls and sectioned terrazzo flooring as a backdrop for custom-made timber furnishings paired with carefully sourced vintage pieces. Mind you, the WMV visvim Carmel store also features a coffee bar, so you can also leisurely drop by for a cup and a chat. At the back of the store, shoppers find a semi-secluded seating area. The new WMV visvim Carmel store stocks a selection of the visvim collection and its WMV women’s line, in addition to capsule collections by CONTRARY DEPT and F.I.L. Indigo Camping Trailer.
