With the meteoric rebirth of the LOEWE brand, you’d almost forget that Jonathan Anderson, its prolific creative director, also has a brand of his own. Aptly named JW Anderson, it’s making considerable strides as well, and as of late, a new standalone boutique has opened in the prestigious Duomo district in Milan. Following outposts in London, Tokyo and China, it’s only JW Anderson‘s second outpost in all of Europe, occupying 53 sqm. (571 sq.ft.) spread across two rooms on the ground floor of a late 19th-century residential building alongside Via Sant’Andrea. The interior design is a renewed collaboration with London-based 6a architects which designed JW Anderson‘s very first retail space in Soho.

The design codes combine Anderson’s cheeky style with elements of the Lombardian capital’s bourgeois architecture. Upon entering the boutique, shoppers encounter two fluted walnut columns divided by a playful faux staircase. On one side, sleek aluminium shelving with built-in lighting lines the walls, paired with tiled marble flooring. The opposite room sees a similar aluminium installation, but slightly altered to showcase the brand’s apparel collection. A seating arrangement can also be found here, comprising the black Iklwa chair by Mac Collins and matching tables by Benchmark. The premises are also adorned with artworks—a photograph by Wolfgang Tillmans and two paintings by Hongyan. The new JW Anderson store stocks men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, bags, and shoes.
