Argentinian artist Ad Minoliti (1980) currently has a second solo show at Peres Projects in Berlin. Entitled GG –galáctica gatoteca–, is simultaneously an interactive exhibition, a site-specific installation, and a collective happening. Minoliti takes cues from the café-concert and cat cafés meant for adoption, converting the gallery into a warm space open to all, and interestingly, to the queer and trans youth of the German capital in particular. The show presents paintings, sculptures, murals, and carpets, incorporates a coffee corner, a library including Argentinian fanzines and comics, and live events, thus transforming the exhibition space into Minoliti’s own fantasyland where the public is welcome to hang around (on through Feb 10). On the occasion of the show, the artist, along with MIKEY. Woodbridge, Ludmila Rosenzweig, Cibelle Cavalli Bastos and Elin McReady, stage the Coffee Break event, a string of gigs on Sat – Feb 4 (4pm-6pm) at the gallery space.
