Founded only in 1995 in Los Angeles, eyewear brand DITA has since garnered a growing cult following with its handcrafted sunglasses and optical frames. Keeping abreast with the increasing demand for its coveted designs across the planet, while raising its profile amidst increased competition in the luxury segment, DITA has expanded its network of standalone boutiques. Following a number of stores on home turf and in Tokyo and Sydney, the exclusive eyewear brand has set its sights on the Old Continent, opening a brand new retail space in London. Its location, alongside Brompton Road, is hardly coincidental—this is one of the British capital’s most coveted shopping grounds. The DITA retail space measures 155 sqm. (1,668 sq.ft.) spread across the ground floor and basement of a late 19th-century building.
The interior design, meticulously created by the brand’s in-house design team, sees a clean, understated aesthetic captured by a palette of warm hues and materials that’s very much influenced by Japanese craftsmanship and culture. Large curved floor-to-ceiling windows allow in floods of daylight and allow ample peeks of the interior to passers by. Sleek wall-mounted shelves and small cabinets line the walls, while two larger glass cabinets with a robust marble base take centre stage. A large video screen is installed at the back of the store featuring branded footage. The new DITA store carries the brand’s full range of sunglasses and optical frames, and given its luxury brand segment, offers a matching level of service and eyewear styling expertise. The eyewear brand is on a roll as yet another European boutique is to open its doors in Paris later this year.

Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
