With two boutiques at buzzing shopping locations, you’d say Byredo is already well-represented in Los Angeles. But the niche Stockholm-based beauty and fragrance brand knows its discerning following very well, and prefers to set up shop where they splurge. Needless to say, this affluent urban sprawl offers room for growth, leading to the opening of a third outpost in leafy Pacific Palisades. Occupying a compact ground floor unit at Palisades Village, an open-air and largely pedestrian shopping centre, the store features an interior design by the brand’s founder Ben Gorham and his in-house design team that pairs Byredo‘s signature minimalist aesthetic with a hint of California-style Modernism. The store unit is part of a larger brick building erected in 2018, and with private apartments situated right on top.
A floor-to-ceiling glass front allows in floods of daylight and instantly reveals a setting with whitewashed walls and terrazzo tile flooring as an understated backdrop for only a few furnishings. A striking sleek metal sheet table serves as a pedestal for two aluminium frame vitrines, and sits opposite a matching counter with a frosted top and a much larger aluminium cabinet that lines almost the entire side wall. At the far end, a seating arrangement can be found, comprising a faux fur-clad sofa, side table and a colourful hand-knotted carpet. The aluminium-clad wall right behind adds a distinct contemporary touch to the setting. The new Byredo store stocks the brand’s full range of perfumes, home fragrances, makeup and body care products, in addition to a curated range of Byproduct items.
