Two things can make or break an outfit, a first impression, or even an entire image, and that’s good shoes and good hair. In the latter category, the newly opened Mood Hair Salon comes to the rescue. Situated on the urban fringes of Madrid, in the leafy satellite town of Rivas-Vaciamadrid, on the ground floor of a modern seven-storey apartment building, it features an interior design by Casa Antillón, an art and architecture collective based in the Spanish capital. The 50 sqm. (538 sq.ft.) space has been fully stripped to reveal its shell of brickwork, concrete beams and flooring, and utility pipes, allowing the only intervention, being curved sheets of galvanised metal to take centre stage. Mind you, it’s home to the reception desk. The façade is now covered in shiny metal panels to match the austerity indoor. A compact waiting area, furnished with sleek metal chair and a salon table, can be found near the entrance. Directly opposite, three arched mirrors, each backlit, adorn one side of the salon. Two rows of suspended tubular lights add a visual dynamic to the setting and run all the way to the back where a small office and a toilet are concealed by a flexion wall. Mood Hair Salon offers on-trend haircuts and colouring services for women.
