Opened in 2014, Aman Tokyo debuted the luxury hotel and resort chain’s very first urban location, and now, almost eight years later, the property is to boast a satellite facility which aims to reflect the Japanese capital’s globally renowned culinary excellence. Also situated in the soaring Otemachi Tower, on level B2 to be exact, a new shop brimming with refined culinary creations will officially open its doors on Fri – Oct 1. Aptly named La Pâtisserie by Aman, the venue is designed by Tokyo-based architecture practice Bond Design Studio, and obviously takes ample cues from Aman Tokyo. The counter is crafted from the same igneous basalt stone found in The Lounge by Aman, 35 floors above. A full year in the making, the counter was designed from this rare natural material to help bring the feeling of nature-in, a rarity itself smack in the centre of Tokyo’s business district.

La Pâtisserie by Aman is led by Yoshihisa Miyagawa, an executive pastry chef who received his formal training in France and right after honed his skills at some of the finest establishments across town and at all three of the hotel’s restaurants. So, what’s cookin’ at La Pâtisserie by Aman? Quite a lot, actually. The counter is laden with handmade breads, exquisite cakes and French pastries, including Mille feuilles aux framboises, Baba à l’Armagnac and Tarte chocolat, in addition to delicious sandwiches and artisan coffee, and large cakes for special occasions. And that’s not all. Boosting the sense of indulgence, is a range of exclusive gift items, such as small baked pastries in Japanese kobako boxes, Aman Tokyo original fruit jams and pressed juices, handmade chocolates and branded reusable lunch bags and tumblers.
