The NeueHouse co-working space in New York City first opened in 2013. Situated a stone’s throw away from Madison Square, it offers upscale settings where to do business, have meetings, or simply, get some work done. As of late, the premises see a revamped penthouse-level floor, designed by DesignAgency, the acclaimed Toronto-based studio and creative partner which initially designed the interior on all floors. Dubbed ELEVEN by NeueHouse as it’s perched on that level of the building, the renewed space aims to incubate, connect and inspire the most successful artists and entrepreneurs, blending privacy, elevated design and personalised services with the power of connections to creative industry honchos. Entry to this floor is through a hotel-style lobby and concierge leading up to the centre of the space featuring a large communal open concept kitchen with a variety of seating options, dark walnut cabinetry and black metal detailing. Custom-made screens, in the form of a modernist grid of fluted glass, bronze mesh and wire glass mediate areas of openness and privacy to balance members’ need for public and private, social and individual experiences. The main executive boardroom allows for a similar private or open experience with its smart glass wall which can fade from transparent to translucent. Seating arrangements are residential in scale to maximise comfort, and lighting addresses both task and ambiance. A changing display of original contemporary art adds to the floor’s exclusive atmosphere. ELEVEN by NeueHouse also offers a limited collection of custom-designed atelier desks and fully private studios. These are accompanied by meeting rooms, phone pods, lounges, shower facilities, as well as a wellness and tranquility room.
