Italian food has a large global fanbase, including millions of gourmets in the Land of the Rising Sun. Italian food and hospitality company Eataly has been present here for a few years, but as of late, it’s accelerating its footprint in Tokyo‘s sprawling metropolitan area. Following the opening up shop in the coastal town of Fujisawa, the company shifts its focus to the plush Ginza shopping area of town, opening the largest Eataly outpost in the country to date. Nestled on the sixth floor of GINZA SIX, a large luxury shopping centre alongside bustling Chuo dori, the new venue measures 1,214 sqm. (13,067 sq.ft.), featuring a string of signature facilities on the premises, all designed in a slight rustic style by its in-house design team. At the heart of Eataly Ginza sits La Piazzetta, an informal 68-seat watering hole inspired by a traditional Italian town square where to sit back and enjoy a glass of wine and antipasti or cocktails and pizza.

As its name blatantly implies, La Pasta e La Pizza revolves around two of Italy‘s most loved dishes, in addition to a slew of appetisers, secondi, and desserts from across the motherland. Mind you, pizza dough and fresh pasta are made and served on the spot. Grill restaurant La Griglia focuses on meat and fish dishes, both paired with seasonal vegetables sourced from all over Japan. The restaurant also has a terrace overlooking Chuo dori. Coffee anyone? Head straight to Gran Caffè Vergnano 1882 where the eponymous Piedmont-based coffee brand serves espresso, capuccino and other concoctions, all paired with prerequisite pastries and confectionary. Last but not least, there’s Market, an alluring gourmet food shop featuring around 1,500 Italian products of which around 250 are presented in Japan for the very first time, including various pastas, olive oils, sauces, salami sausages, cheeses, and more than 360 different from all over Italy.
