Following last year’s opening of the very first Louis Vuitton men’s standalone store in Tokyo, an event we’ve covered in a previous post, the luxury behemoth has shifted its focus halfway across the globe to inaugurate a second dedicated men’s boutique in Houston. Obviously situated at The Galleria, the undisputed luxury retail hub in the heart of the global oil and gas capital, it occupies a spacious ground floor corner unit, rubbing shoulders with the boutiques of peers from fashion’s upper echelon, such as Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Bottega Veneta, Tod’s and Prada. The interior design, created by Louis Vuitton‘s in-house design team, reflects the brand’s visual representation of its heritage and craftsmanship like in all other boutiques, but also incorporates a mix of global art and cultural elements, innovative materials and architectural design. Parquet flooring and walls in a cream hue form the backdrop for a variety of settings.
Upon entering the Louis Vuitton store, shoppers encounter an installation presenting select items from creative director Virgil Abloh‘s newest collection, followed by homey settings comprising a range of carefully sourced vintage furnishings and objects, including a ceramic side table by designer Mado Jolain, Pierre Paulin pumpkin chairs and stools, and adding a fun element is the limited-edition Louis Vuitton Epi leather foosball table. For the most discerning of shoppers, an alluring V.I.P. room is readily available, furnished with a pair of armchairs by Joseph-André Motte for Steiner, contemporary artwork by Japanese artist Kenta Cobayashi whose remixed digital photographs speak to a digitised future through pixels smeared into bold, brushstroke-like flares. The new Louis Vuitton men’s store currently stocks the full A/W 2021 men’s collection, in addition to several pieces from the new Christopher leather goods collection and men’s watches.

Publishers Note
Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
