Following the 2018 takeover of Versace by Capri Holdings, formerly known as Michael Kors Holdings, the Italian luxury brand has seen an accelerated retail expansion across the globe. As of late, fashion’s most opulent brand boasts a new boutique on Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich‘s most prestigious shopping artery. Flanked by the boutiques of Tiffany’s and Dolce & Gabbana, the store occupies 204 sqm. (2,196 sq.ft.) spread over two floors of a monumental late 19th-century building. Shiny gold effigies of Medusa, the brand’s longtime logo, adorn the façade and shop windows are engraved following a diamond shape, hinting the modern opulence of the interior design created by architect Gwenaël Nicolas of Tokyo-based practice Curiosity. Flooring of precious Eucalyptus wood is paired with whitewashed walls and ceilings with dynamic graphics. Furnishings comprise counters and display cabinets crafted from Namibia marble, glass and polished gold metal finishings. The women’s footwear section on the ground floor stands out by way of a backdrop of blue marble, matched with blue carpeting and sofas. The new Versace boutique has been created with the highest sustainability standards in mind, from the choice of materials used to the flexibility and management of the store. The ground floor is home to women’s apparel, shoes, bags, small leather goods, and the basement section is dedicated to the men’s collections.
