Luxury retail has been on a roll in Australia for quite some time, and it’s especially Melbourne where high-end brands step it up. Bottega Veneta first entered the Australian market in 2011 with a store in Sydney, and then quickly expanded to Melbourne and Brisbane. And now, the Italian fashion house has added a second boutique in the Victorian capital. Situated at Chadstone, a shopping centre in the eponymous neighbourhood which in recent years has emerged as a suburban nucleus of all things luxury, the store occupies a 143 sqm. (1,539 sq.ft.) unit and features all of Bottega Veneta‘s subdued design codes. The façade, framed by Gris du Marais marble, signals from afar the elegant understatement which can be found inside. Marmorino stucco walls and flooring of oak wood and limestone form the backdrop of glass-top cabinets and display tables, marbled displays and leather-clad ottomans. Built-in shelving across the premises present additional trophy items. And speaking of merchandise, the new Bottega Veneta outpost stocks the brand’s men’s and women’s handbags, small leather goods, shoes, jewellery pieces and eyewear.
