Following his participation in a punk rock band in high school, Wataru Komachi transitioned to the art scene, putting his inquisitive and eclectic focus to use on a different level. Ever since, the Tokyo-based artist has further developed his collage skills, and even branched out to collab with a string of brands and agencies. Komachi’s latest showcase, entitled Time’s Up (Pokemon Go! Home), is currently held at Clear Gallery Tokyo in the city’s Roppongi area, demonstrates his prolific creative output. The body of work on display pairs collage, painting, photography, and various other methods express current social issues and the buzzwords of our shared cultural vernacular with a bold sense of playfulness. A such, the works very much serve as a mirror to visitors, reminding them the world they live in has a treacherous flip side (on through May 11).
