It was in Spring of last year that Acne Studios arrived in Beijing, setting up a standalone boutique in what’s arguably the swankiest shopping mall in town: Shin Kong Place. Although the opening demonstrates the brand’s intentional alignment with peers from the luxury echelon, its original client base of fashion-forward hipsters hasn’t been forgotten. The recent opening of a second boutique in the Chinese capital can be seen in that light, and Acne Studios have opted for a retail space a few kilometres north at Taikoo Li Sanlitun, the preferred shopping grounds of the aforementioned demographic. The interior design, created by the company’s in-house design team, features the latest newest yet always slightly evolving design codes, incorporating pristine white walls, matte steel panelling and matching clothing racks, in addition to pops of colour by way of carpeting and London-based artist Max Lamb‘s chunky furnishings made of bronze cast in polystyrene foam. The new Acne Studios store carries the brand’s full range of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, shoes and bags.

Publishers Note
Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
