With the recent opening of a new retail space in the heart of Antwerp, cosmetics brand Aesop expands its retail network to yet another country on the Old Continent. The company has secured a compact ground floor unit of a four-storey residential structure built in 1856, and similar to all other Aesop stores, the premises have been given unique, design-led setting. This time, Aesop‘s in-house design team got involved and created a backdrop of finely crafted walnut joinery that’s distinctly contemporary yet compatible with the historic architecture. The woodwork’s tamboured edges reiterates the curved windows, and is paired with diagonally laid travertine flooring. The store may be modest in size, but it obviously comes with a basin, a signature element of all Aesop stores, and a matching sales counter. An ornate antique chandelier adds a touch from a bygone era. The upper floors have been given as more modest makeover, retaining most of the building’s original elements, and are used as office space. The new Aesop boutique carries the brand’s full range of skin, hair and body products.
