Very similar to China, India‘s bustling top-tier cities lead the way in the country’s economic transformation. As the nation’s leading hi-tech hub, Bengaluru obviously ranks in the upper echelon, and this comes with lifestyle perks, including  an array of venues for a new generation of movers and shakers. The recently opened Sunrise Garden, a design-led yet casual restaurant and bar, ticks all the boxes of this young crowd. Situated alongside a busy thoroughfare in Peenya, the city’s largest industrial area, the venue covers no less than 730 sqm. (7,858 sq.ft.) set across two floors which partially extend outdoors. Designed by Bengaluru-based architect Nischal Abhaykumar of M9 Design Studio, the design may have made use of affordable materials and parts of an existing building to keep costs low, but hasn’t compromised on the look and feel. Sunrise Garden features an open-plan dining area with a garden extension. Tables and chairs are arranged around a small court filled with lush vegetation, which is positioned next to a staircase. The stairs lead to an upper floor with additional seating and is partly covered by umbrella structures to shield guests from direct sunlight. The setting indoors is equally spartan-chic, featuring walls clad in aluminium panels, wooden plinths, and tiles with different motifs. Furnishings comprise of sturdy wooden tables, matched with elongated benches and sleek metal chairs. To compensate for the lack of natural light towards the back of the space, a grid of protruding LED lights adorns the ceiling. Planters filled with lush green plants add a friendly touch to the indoor setting. The menu at Sunrise Garden lists both a variety of cosmopolitan and Indian chicken dishes, in addition to cocktails and a range of draft beers.
