As a womenswear brand which tweaks classic silhouettes with contemporary tweaks, Lookast has gained a large following in homeland South Korea. Apart from its seasonal collections, the company creates design-led stores to up the ante in terms of communications with its savvy Milennial target demographics. The latest boutiques, situated in the fast-emerging Seongsu shopping district of Seoul, is no exception. Situated around the corner from the much-publicised Dior pop-up store which opened little over a year ago, the store occupies a 53 sqm. (570 sq.ft.) ground floor unit of a brick structure from the 1990s. The interior has been remodeled and designed by local architecture practice YGGGR which has taken inspiration from the brand’s timeless aesthetic.

Additionally, cues have been taken from the somewhat diagonal shape of the retail space. As a matter of fact, the latter has been entirely ignored, and the chosen configuration is based on contrary even dimensions. Combined with the use of three different mirrors, the understated and uncluttered space has also been optically enlarged. While furnishings and fixtures are few and simple, the use of colour is restrained to white hues, including that of the Barisol ceiling, and a tones of grey which tie in with the building’s façade. Additionally, the interior sees a a subtle infusion of blue, captured by a display table, a single leg of a clothing rack, annd wall panelling. The new Lookast store carries a selection of the brand’s women’s apparel range.
