Following London and Paris, Axel Arigato ticks off another leading European capital city with the inauguration of its newest flagship store in Berlin. The Swedish brand opened a shop-in-shop last year at KaDeWe department store, but is now raising its profile with this standalone boutique. Unsurprisingly, a prominent location has been selected in Mitte, an area of town known for its appealing mix of independent boutiques and edgy monobrand stores, cool bars, and art galleries. As such, it’s Axel Arigato‘s preferred retail habitat as the brand aims to connect with the local community and vibe, and pitch in with not only its lifestyle offerings, but also a rotation of engaging in-store events. Occupying the spacious ground floor of a redeveloped building erected in East German times, it once again sees an interior crafted in collab with Stockholm-based architect Christian Halleröd.

Although not as lofty as a large number if its retail spaces, the dimensions of this Axel Arigato store are ample to allow the creation of several monolithic travertine podiums of different sizes and heights, wrapped around massive pillars dipped in a high-gloss pastel yellow hue. The various settings are framed by matching travertine flooring and a pristine white ceiling adorned by a seemingly endless row of linear lights that optically enlarge the space. Adding up to the latter spatial trick are large floor-to-ceiling mirrors, while an equally sizable LED screen displaying creative content boosts the immersive shopping experience. The new Axel Arigato store carries the brand’s full range of coveted men’s and women’s footwear, apparel, accessories and quirky assortment of objects.
