Gucci first opened a boutique on the premises of the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Vancouver in 2006, and now, sixteen years on, it has expanded considerably and given a full makeover along the way. The store now measures approx. 10,000 sq.ft. (929 sqm.) spread across the ground floor and mezzanine level, making it the biggest in Canada, and featuring the brand’s latest retail design codes as laid down by creative director Alessandro Michele. Similar to most of Gucci‘s other retail spaces, the store features herringbone parquet flooring, alternated by intricate marble inlaid sections, and paired with walls covered in moulded wooden panels and coffered ceilings. Two large support pillars near the entrance are adorned with plissé fabric in a soft pink hue that matches both the curtains and the backdrop of the shelving in that section, instantly creating an intimate boudoir feel. Furnishings are captured by a mixture of classic and Mid-century modern-inspired pieces, vintage carpets and homely potted plants. The renewed Gucci store carries an expanded range of goods, including women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, shoes, bags, small leather goods, and also items from the new Gucci pet collection.
