Vinyl’s resurgence is an ongoing thing and is taking new shapes in retail and hospitality. The recent opening of the White Label Records store and bar in Singapore‘s buzzing Chinatown is also indicative of a global trend, and here, a record store by day effortlessly shifts into bar mode in evening hours. The retail space is situated on the premises of Ann Siang House, a listed early 20th-century building, and is a collab of the people behind vinyl collectors #vinyloftheday and record shop The Analog Vault. Launched by well-connected and in-the-know group of people, White Label Records‘ new venue pairs vinyl mania with lifestyle, offering aficionados a relaxing place where to delve into the record collection and connect with kindred spirits over a drink or two. The place oozes a homey vibe, featuring whitewashed walls and tile flooring. A well-stocked bar and stools is situated on one side, while the opposite side is dedicated to vinyl, featuring crates filled with merchandise and even a DJ booth. Furnishings comprise of shelving, a bar table with stools, and additional sofas and chairs. Walls are adorned by framed photographs and whimsical lines captured in neon. Heading here for a drink? The bar menu lists a wide range of signature cocktails, beers and wines, but also a number of tasty bites. Next to vinyl offerings, the White Label Records store and bar also hosts a rotation of in-house DJ sets and other events.
