Driven by high-calibre creativity and a strong sense of aesthetics, young Israeli chef Alon Shabo has shaken up Tel Aviv‘s culinary scene with his exquisite, and obviously tasty, pastry creations. Unsurprisingly, the entrepreneur also has a keen eye for retail design, and his newest shop, situated in the historic Lev Ha’ir neighbourhood of this vibrant city, once again proves just that. Occupying a lofty 65 sqm. (700 sq.ft.) unit on the ground floor of a six-storey residential structure built in 1935 by architects Avraham Berger and Yitzhak Mandelbaum, the retail space features an interior design by Studio Simon Barazin, a multi-disciplinary practice based in Tel Aviv.

Clean and understated, the premises offer shoppers a tranquil retreat – and obviously one that comes with heaps of tasty offerings – from the hustle and bustle of the Rehov Sheinkin shopping artery. Heavily influenced by digital aesthetics, a neutral backdrop of shiny metal and grey hues is captured by clean, minimalist lines that add up to a bold sense of understatement. In stark contrast, the seating configurations, both in-store and outside, playfully feature both circular and curved shapes, and also come in a striking electric blue shade. At the back of the Alon Shabo store, behind the service counter, a kitchen, storage space and toilets can be found.
