those that prefered flying zeppelin... but they are all probably dead by now. definitely a few ghosts hanging out in the rooms here... the clientele these day is definitely a bit less exotic...

the not so surprising but memorable thing about these old shanghai hotels is that they all have the same musty odor as your grandmothers laundry... plus dingy lighting and perfect art deco detailing. a total time warp. the giftshop has a selection of souv

this was once the tallest building in asia and overlooked the shanghai racetrack - now known as peoples square. landmark art deco 30s hotel designed by a hungarian architect l‡szl— hudec. if they ever make an oriental version of 'the shining' they could shoot it in here... check out the history of the place on the mezzanine floor before the horrible 50s renovation and a cheesarama 80s one...
