’Tis the season…for winter-themed pop-ups. The gloves are on for the most fantastical festive escape in the city, exporting revellers to Alpine-style chalets, snowy Lapland scenes and magical woodlands. The Treehouse at SkyLounge is amongst our favourite selections, buried in the heart of the City. Off-the-beaten-track twelve floors high at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel resides an enchanting winter lodge that feels worlds apart from the streets below. The speciality here is the bone-warming hot rum cocktails. The indulgent Spiced Apple Toddy sees Chairman’s Reserver Rum warmed through with Rekorderlig apple cider, spices and whipped cream. Hot Peach Tea cuts rum with peach liqueur, hot white tea and soothing honey and lemon. Those after something a little more chilled can opt for the wintry Plum’n’Rum Old-Fashioned fizz. Sip’n’snuggle as you absorb some of London’s most iconic landmarks including Tower Bridge, St. Paul’s, The Shard and the Gherkin, all wrapped in a sheepskin throw. Winter comfort food includes the truffle mac’n’cheese, ‘big bad’ mini dogs, grilled cheese sandwich and tuna melt cakes. Indulge your (very!) sweet tooth with peanut butter chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches or the warm grilled banana split with melting fudge pieces. Great for an after-work catch up. Open until late February.
