Almost simultaneously opened with the renewed flagship store in Tokyo is the new Alexander McQueen boutique in Las Vegas. The tinseltown may not exactly be known for a sense of style, but it’s certainly a place of where splurging is next level, and if so, why not on fashion? The so-called Strip is dotted with large casino complexes replete with over-the-top features, but none offer shopping at a level as the Bellagio does. Obviously, it’s here where the London-based fashion house occupies a ground floor unit, wedged in between Louis Vuitton’s men’s boutique and fine dining restaurant Spago. The interior designer, a collaboration between the brand’s creative director Sarah Burton and Chilean architect Smiljan Radic, references the fashion house’s core values, such as a fascination of nature which translates into an abundant use of light and dark oak and walnut. The material is captured by wall panels, flooring, displays and fixtures, and is paired with cottoncrete, an experimental cotton-based papier-mâché cladding which was first introduced at the Alexander McQueen flagship store which bowed in the British capital last January. Colourful, floor-to-ceiling fabrics and glass demicylinders pierce add further artisanal character to the setting. The new Alexander McQueen boutique carries the women’s ready-to-wear, bags and accessories collection.

Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
