products

well-balanced, tasty dishes. fresh ingredients. no-frills presentation.

clientele

mixed crowd of downtowners, advertising moguls, models, friends and family of the staff.

service

staff are friendly, chatty and know their stuff. which wine goes well with veal and cod? ask waiter frederik.

interior

industrial hangar chic. it's huge...and used to be the storage space for an amsterdam theatre company. a few modifications have been made but the utilitarian magic has remained intact. a gigantic eye-catching chandelier hovers over the brick bar.

the name may sound like a frivolous exercise of typical dutch camp but is in fact a reference to a jacques brel song from the early 1960s. it's also mischievously misleading because this isn't a hotel. we bet the off-beat accommodation is beyond your idea of low-profile. put off? don't be. hotel de goudfazant currently is one of the city's most exciting dining spots, not only due to its quirky concept but also because they know how to cook. well-hidden in a seemingly no-go industrial zone, it's almost impossible to find so bring a gps!
